A new start

So, as I look over the blog here, I realize that more than a year has passed since anything was posted. I think this is largely due to the amount of free time that we had been wasting investing in Facebook. Over the past few months, the amount of time that I was wasting on devoting to Facebook became more and more troubling, so last week I decided that I had enough- so I pulled the plug on it. Oddly I found that I had much more free time that I remembered having. I even got my taxes done. But, I thought that with this newly found time, I could revive something that I actually enjoyed doing- blogging. So here we go- a new start.

For those of you who don't know what I do for a living, I work in law enforcement. I am employed by the state, and I am assigned to the Arizona State University, Tempe campus. We work three, 13.33 hour shifts per week, and I get to do mine on Fri, Sat, and Sun nights. A little background of ASU, so you can understand what a typical shift might entail: ASU is the largest university in the United States, with an enrollment this year of over 73,000 students. ASU has 4 campuses spread over the metro Phoenix area. Tempe, the main campus, has the bulk of students- and is located in Tempe which is near the center of the metro area.

I have decided to take my camera along to document the sights of a typical week. I plan on spreading this project over several months- and hope to chronicle my adventures (well, the ones I can share at least).

Lot 16 & 20
This is the main parking lot where all of the 2am action is. Its empty now, because its a sunday night- and the bars have closed.

Mill & University
Tempe Center. Apparently those "green lights" in the sky are internal reflections in the camera's lens. I need to figure out how to squash that.
Structure 3
The upper level of Parking Structure 3, a common O.P. for us on the weekends.
Tempe and Phoenix
Another Tempe skyline shot with Phoenix in the background.
L&L w/ Hayden Butte
This is one of my favorite ones of the night- Tempe skyline with Hayden Butte in the background.
The MU
The Memorial Union (North East corner)
Another skyline  photo.
Similar shot, but with exposure changes.
The east saddle of Sun Devil Stadium. The green line and dot are my laser. Just curious how it would look in the photo.
Lot 59 with the solar structure above/
Sun Devil Stadium and Lot 59
Sun Devil Stadium and Parking Structure 5
Mona Plummer w/ a cool lens flare.
Palo Verde residence Halls
Parking Structure 5
Another shot of Structure 5

And this last one I photoshopped. I have been trying to pull off the "Tilt shift" thing and make the photo look like a miniature model. How did I do?
